Legend has it that the name Lammershoek, "lambs' corner", originated from the fact that ewes with their young lambs sought shelter in the forests surrounding the farm when threatened by the Black Eagle, in Cape Dutch called the Lammervanger.

The vineyards of Lammershoek lie on the back slope of the Paardeberg, some 50km northeast of Table Mountain (Cape Town), on the border of the Paarl and Swartland region in the heart of the winelands. This area is increasingly gaining popularity with local and overseas wine experts.

Our Cellars have recently undergone extensive renovations and we are now proud to be in a position where we can store, mature and produce all our superior wines at the estate.
Our near perfect growing conditions and minimal interference in the cellar mean our wines are given every opportunity to reach their full potential.

We concentrate on Rhone-style red wines, our flagships being our Syrah an dour red blend called Roulette which is a cuvee of Shiraz, Grenache, Carignan and Viognier. We also produce a Pinotage which is an excellent expression of our terroir. All our reds are gently fermented in open top “kuipe” and matured mainly in French oak.
Our white wines include a barrel fermented and matured Chenin Blanc and our white blend called Roulette Blanc which is also Chenin-based but with added Chardonnay and Viognier.
The pair of natural sweet dessert wines is a noble late Harslevelu "straw wine" and Pinodoux made from Pinotage.

We now also produce a second label called Aprilskloof which offers excellent value for money.
The range includes a Sauvignon Blanc, a red blend and a Tinta Barocca typical of the Swartland region.

Please visit us on the farm, we would like to show you our cellar, introduce you to our exciting different wines and chat about our philosophy on wine.
Our mission is to produce the best possible wines with minimal interference with nature.
"The best wines are grown, not made!"
