The farm Nuweland is situated approximately 7km outside of Malmesbury in the direction of Darling (off the R315). Four generations of the Louw family has resided here. Nuweland is a 560 hectare farm on which 97 hectare of dryland wine grapes are produced and supplied to Distell and Overhex. Wheat, cattle and a Dormer (sheep) stud to be proud off, is managed by Ewan and Juan (snr.) Louw.
The wine cellar on the on the farm was established by Juan (jnr.) in 2007. After completing his studies at the Cape Technikon, Juan gained experience working numerous vintages in California, Nieu Zealand and in 5 different South African wine regions. To date Juan is the only winemaker in South Africa who fortifies sun-dried grapes on the skins without fermenting it.
