Greenacres Garagiste comprises a number of individuals who are passionate about wine-making. Their small and somewhat rustic cellar is at historic Houdconstant farm, adjacent to the town of Porterville, and is the only property that connects Porterville to the mountains of the Grootwinterhoek Wilderness Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Houdconstant produces a variety of wine grapes on about 17 hectares for the local wine cooperative. Under the watchful eye of owners Fan and Philippa Olivier, in the 2006 harvest the happy band of enthusiasts made its maiden red and white vintages, a Robust Cabernet Sauvignion, a Fruity Merlot and a Tropical Chenin Blanc. This tradition continued in 2007 with the making of a spectacular Chenin Blanc 2007.

Most recent bottled wines are very limited Chenin Blanc, a Chardonnay and a Chenin Blanc/Chardonnay blend.
These uncertified wines were all barrel fermented in old barrels and hand bottled (unfiltered, unstabilised and ‘soos hy van sy ma af kom’) by the enthusiastic team themselves at the beginning of 2010. They have now settled nicely and are available from the farm only. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is still ageing slowly in the barrels, as is the 2010 Pinotage, which might prove to be a show stopper.
